Pompei truffle-growing company is located in the Marche region, a few kilometres from the town of Ascoli Piceno, in one of the most suitable areas for truffle growing in Italy. Here one of the production and research centres for the Premier Black Truffle (Tuber melanosporum Vitt.) was set up.

This might seem odd to some as everybody has heard of the black truffle of Acqualagna and Norcia, and the white truffle of Alba, but trading areas should not be mistaken for production areas.
